A 90-mile upgrade to the regional power grid that will run through Northeast Queens when construction begins later this year now has route alternatives that bypass many residential streets and Bell Boulevard south of 26th Avenue.
The new preferred route for the Propel NY Energy project was presented to Community Board 11 Monday night by New York Transco, which is teaming with the New York Power Authority on the project. Some state approvals still are outstanding.
The new map incorporates a stretch of the Clearview Expressway and uses more of Northern Boulevard and the Cross Island Parkway than the map presented to the board back in October 2024…
