New traffic light planned for Booker T. Washington Highway

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors approved a new development of 103 homes with business sitesalong the Booker T Washington Highway that includes access roads intersecting Route 122 in the Westlake area.

According to Board Member Lorie Smith, who represents the Gills Creek district, a traffic signal is planned along the highway at the Rock Outdoors intersection. This will be a main access point to the planned housing community.

“As we grow, I am keeping a close eye on infrastructure pressures,” she explained. “The Lost Mountain/Route 122 project is a SMART Scale VDOT project awarded to the County. It is scheduled to be a roundabout, but VDOT engineers have continued to study the best solutions,” she added.
