Tierrasanta’s Beloved Sangucheria Plots Liberty Public Market Takeover

Sangucheria Peruvian Street Food, the Tierrasanta sandwich spot locals lean on for chicharrón and empanadas, is about to level up. The family-run shop is moving into Liberty Station with a stall inside Liberty Public Market, where paperwork is already in motion and the team is eyeing an opening in roughly a month. Before the food hall debut, they plan to unlock a second full storefront in Hillcrest on March 10, bringing their sanguches and Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken to a much wider crowd.

What Will Be On The Menu

According to What Now San Diego, the new Liberty Public Market stall will land at 2820 Historic Decatur Road, Suite 36 and will add Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken to Sangucheria’s existing lineup. The planned menu sticks closely to the greatest hits: Asado (roast beef), Chicharrón (slow braised pork), Choripán (grilled chorizo), Pavo (roast turkey) and Pollo (chopped grilled chicken) sanguches, plus empanadas, fries and loaded plates such as Salchipapa.

From Tierrasanta To A Bigger Stage

Sangucheria started in Tierrasanta at 5950 Santo Road, where it has built a steady neighborhood following around its sandwiches, empanadas and desserts. The Tierrasanta shop, which lists hours and contact details on Sangucheria Peruvian Street Food, will stay put as the home base while the team pushes into Hillcrest and Liberty Station.

Owner Fabiola Doubrava told What Now San Diego that “paperwork is underway” and the Liberty Station stall could be ready in about a month, with the Hillcrest location slated to debut on March 10. Those timing details are still projections, and neither the market nor Sangucheria has announced a firm public opening date…
