San Antonio residents admit to identity theft scheme in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Two residents of San Antonio have confessed to an identity theft operation involving stolen mail and postal keys in Corpus Christi, according to U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.

From August 2025 through December 2025, Summer Muniz and Eusebio Valdez conspired to steal mail from hundreds of residents in the area. Muniz also stole a postal lock, while Valdez used counterfeit postal keys to access apartment building mailboxes. Muniz utilized information from the stolen mail to withdraw at least $2,500 from a victim’s bank account.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 3 before U.S. District Judge David Morales. Valdez faces up to 10 years in prison for possessing the postal keys. Muniz faces a mandatory two-year imprisonment for the identity theft conviction and will pay restitution for damages to the apartment mailboxes and the victims’ losses…
