ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Gerardo Zamora, 19, was arrested by SWAT teams after a package containing two fully-automatic “switch” devices was delivered to his home on Highcrest Road on Wednesday.
According to court records, on February 23, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security notified the State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT) that a shipment of two fully-automatic “switch” devices — which convert a standard semi-automatic pistol into a machine gun — was intercepted while arriving from Canada at O’Hare airport, with a destination to an address on Highcrest Road in Rockford.
Agents from the Illinois State Police, Cook County Sheriff’s Police Organized Crime Division, along with the US Postal Inspection Service and SLANT officers, converged on the home in the 4700 block of Highcrest Road prior to 11:26 a.m., to observe a controlled delivery of the package…
