Hastings lifts shelter-in-place order after “active incident”

Authorities have lifted a shelter-in-place warning issued earlier on Thursday in a residential area of Hastings, Minnesota.

The Hastings Police Department said there was an “active incident” in the area of 19th Street West and Maple Street. The alert was issued around 1:20 p.m. and lifted as of 3:45 p.m.

Police later said they were called to the area on a report of a potentially suicidal man. The reporting party said the man had been consuming alcohol and had access to weapons. His roommate told police he had “expressed a desire for ‘suicide by cop.'”…
