Man sentenced in connection with shooting death of 14-year-old boy

GOLDEN, Colo. — A man charged in connection with the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy in Lakewood was sentenced to more than two decades in prison Wednesday.

Court records show that Philix Baca, 21, pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court in January to one count of attempted first-degree murder (extreme indifference) and a crime of violence sentence enhancer. Two first-degree murder charges and two crime of violence sentence enhancers were dropped as part of a plea agreement. He was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in the Department of Corrections, with credit for 295 days served.
