Taking a deep dive into the offerings at this year’s Spokane International Film Festival

Finding an unheralded film that you can sing the praises of is a gift. It’s like a tiny magical secret you’re encouraged to share. In the Inland Northwest, there’s no better time to build up a treasure trove of such cinematic jewels than when the Spokane International Film Festival (SpIFF) rolls around.

While SpIFF only spans one weekend this year (March 6-8), there are loads of films worth cramming in. Things kick off on Friday with a morning panel titled “Catching Train Dreams,” during which the local cast and crew discuss making the Oscar-nominated feature. Screenings start later that night with the Spokane premiere of Evergreens, the debut feature from Spokane filmmaker Jared Briley. The weekend watching also gets off to an early start this year with the new addition of the Doc & Donuts programs, where moviegoers can grab a tasty pastry and catch a 10 am screenings at the Magic Lantern.

To prepare you for this condensed film binge, here are some of the best and most notable films on the 2026 Spokane International Film Festival slate. For the full SpIFF schedule, tickets and other info, visit spokanefilmfestival.org.
