FAIRLAWN, Ohio (WJW) — A former private golf course in Fairlawn is being transformed into the Rosemont Preserve.
The city of Fairlawn is behind construction on the 66 acres of land. While the project promises scenic walking trails and a small amphitheater, the city’s Director of Public Service, Ernie Staten, said the larger reason behind the project is to decrease flooding.

Staten said runoff from the nearby Montrose shopping district has caused issues when heavy rain hits. It causes water to flow into the Shocalog Creek, resulting in flooding in Fairlawn and communities upstream.
