Radar showed he was going 96 mph in a 50-mph zone, leading to a traffic stop near American Lane.
When told he was speeding, Correal stated, “I was doing 80.” It was at this moment that the officer noticed the smell of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. Correal initially denied drinking, but ultimately admitted to it, the report said.
The smell of alcohol grew stronger as Correal spoke, and that, coupled with his bloodshot, glassy eyes, led to field sobriety exercises. His performance, including swaying and a loss of balance, led the officer to conclude he was under the influence. He later provided breath samples of 0.119g/210L and 0.115g/210L, the report said…
