Homes priced as low as $125K coming to Ann Arbor with tax incentives

ANN ARBOR, MI — New homes priced as low as $125,000 — well below market rate — are coming to Ann Arbor with the help of about $5 million in tax incentives.

The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners deliberated for about a half hour before voting unanimously to approve a brownfield tax-capture plan for the Townie Homes affordable housing project Wednesday night, March 4.

“I’m very excited to welcome new neighbors,” said Commissioner Yousef Rabhi, D-Ann Arbor.

The nonprofit Ann Arbor Community Land Trust is behind the project, which aims to build homes priced within reach for average working people who can’t afford the average Ann Arbor home costing over half a million dollars…
