Residents traveling the U.S. 129 northbound ran into a bit of a snag late Wednesday morning after an overturned dump truck forced officials to temporarily shut down both lanes of travel between West Broadway Avenue and Mall Road.
Maryville Police and Fire Chief Tony Crisp told The Daily Times that the accident occurred around 10 a.m. Wednesday when a driver for the Knoxville-based Bellamy Excavating company traveling westbound on West Broadway veered off the roadway to the right while merging onto the U.S. 129 N.
“It appears his right wheels went off the roadway while he was exiting the bypass at the northbound U.S. 129,” said Crisp. “He overcorrected, and the truck turned over.”…
