The Knoxville marathon needs 1,000 volunteers: sign up here

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Knoxville Marathon organizers have sounded the call, and they need more than 1,000 volunteers to help put the event on.

The marathon is slated for April 11 and 12. Race organizers said Thursday they needed volunteers to help staff the health and fitness expo on Saturday, monitor the courses and manager water stations.

“Volunteers are the heart and soul of Knoxville, especially during marathon weekend,” said Jason Altman, the race’s director. “We have opportunities for individuals, families and corporate or civic groups to get involved. From handing out water to cheering on racers, volunteers cultivate the energy and encouragement that runners remember long after they cross the finish line.”…
