Wildlife sanctuary owner, community members, concerned proposed development could impact animals

LILBURN, Ga. — A request to build more than 200 homes and duplexes in Gwinnett County next to a wildlife sanctuary has community members concerned.

The rezoning request is for 29 acres on Stone Mountain Highway in Lilburn, which is on the other side of trees from Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary.

Jonathan Ordway is the sanctuary’s owner. Ordway worries about the animals’ safety due to noise, children trying to sneak onto the property, and pets ending up on the property too…
