RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Drivers who fail to stop at red lights at key Richmond intersections will soon have to pay up. With the grace period for the city’s newest red light enforcement cameras ending, each violation will cost offenders $50.
On Friday, Jan. 30, the city’s first wave of red light safety cameras — located at four high-risk intersections — became operational. However, during an initial grace period, violators only received warnings for the first 30 days, allowing drivers time to adjust.
This grace period will end during the month of March. From that point on, drivers who choose to run a red light at these intersections will receive $50 citations for each offense, as allowed for under Virginia law…
