ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Are you waking up to find cars, trees, and the ground covered in ice on Friday morning? Up-and-down temperatures in the Rochester area created some freezing rain that caused damage.
News10NBC is tracking the impact. At least one utility pole fell on Buffalo Road near Mount Read Boulevard in Rochester overnight, leaving wires down. Our photojournalist saw a car with a broken windshield in that area.
Also in the city, large tree limbs fell onto wires over a house on Westmoreland Drive near Mt. Hope Avenue. National Grid responded and was able to restore power.
In Greece, an entire tree fell onto Deming Street between Elmgrove and Long Pond roads. Our photojournalist saw crews clearing the area. We also saw large branches down on Bonesteel Street in Greece.
Are there any outages?
There aren’t widespread outages across the region, but some in Monroe County and Genesee County. RG&E is reporting around 50 outages for Monroe County as of 5 a.m. on Friday. For National Grid, it’s reporting 240 outages for Genesee County…
