WEST PALM BEACH, Fla (CBS12) — A Lyft passenger was arrested Wednesday after police say he stole his driver’s SUV from a gas station, crashed it a short time later, and tried to run from the scene. The details were outlined in a West Palm Beach police arrest report.
According to the report, a Lyft driver stopped at the Marathon gas station on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. around 2:57 p.m. to prepay for gas. While he was inside, the passenger, identified as 35-year-old Declan Murphy, slid into the driver’s seat and drove off.
The victim and his stepson followed the stolen SUV in another vehicle while calling 911. Police say Murphy continued east on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard until he rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection with Tamarind Avenue. He then got out and ran…
