OPELOUSAS, La. (NEWS 15) — The St. Landry Parish School Board met to discuss the future of two Opelousas schools and voted unanimously to merge Opelousas Junior High with Opelousas Senior High.
The decision comes as an alternative to a potential state takeover of Opelousas Jr. High.
The State Department of Education said the merger is necessary because Opelousas Jr. High has received an “F” grade for each of the last seven years. In contrast, the senior high is rated as a “C” school…
