Ex-Portland club owner, convicted of murder in ‘90s ticketing scheme, gets new conviction

The “Starry Night Murderer” was sentenced to 90 days in jail for shoving his 80-year-old wife to the floor of their home in Sandy, according to court records and a statement from the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office.

Larry Hurwitz, 71, pleaded guilty to harassment, a misdemeanor, during a brief hearing Thursday, court records show. Clackamas County Circuit Judge Thanh Tran accepted the plea deal.

Hurwitz, the former owner of downtown Portland’s Starry Night concert hall, served 10 years in prison for killing publicity agent Tim Moreau in 1990 while trying to cover-up a ticket counterfeiting scheme…
