Volunteers help restore Marshall parks damaged by Helene floodwaters

MARSHALL, N.C. (WLOS) — Volunteers from across the country spent the morning in Marshall, working to restore parks damaged by Hurricane Helene as the town continues its recovery.

About 80 people with the National Association of State Contractor Licensing Agencies converged on Marshall to help spruce up Blannahassett Island and Rollins Park. Both parks were submerged by French Broad River floodwaters during the storm.

The work on the parks followed other projects aimed at removing debris and restoring the riverbank, efforts that helped make the latest cleanup and repairs possible…
