Indiana Weather Alert: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Covers 21 Counties Until 11 p.m. Friday with 60 MPH Wind Threat

South Bend, Indiana – Strong thunderstorms moving across northern Indiana could bring damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and pockets of large hail through 11 p.m. Friday, putting more than 20 counties under an active Severe Thunderstorm Watch during the evening commute and late-night travel hours.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Watch 17 covers 21 counties across northern Indiana, including Lake, Porter, La Porte, St. Joseph, Elkhart, Kosciusko and Cass counties. The watch remains active until 11 p.m. EST Friday, with storms capable of producing wind gusts near 60 mph and hail up to one inch in diameter
