North Charleston elder neglect case highlights South Carolina’s low ranking in elder abuse

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The arrest of a North Charleston couple accused of neglecting a vulnerable adult is drawing renewed attention to elder care oversight in South Carolina — a state that ranks near the bottom nationwide for elder abuse protections.

Reginald and Cynthia Kelly were arrested in connection with allegations of elder neglect at Park Circle Assisted Living, where police say neglect contributed to the death of resident Thaddeus Moose.
