As of Feb. 18, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office has promoted Erin Pierce to administrative division captain and Gregory Sumner to administrative division lieutenant.
Pierce began her career with the sheriff’s office in 2001 as a communications officer and later served as a civil process server. After graduating from the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy’s 166th Basic Session in December 2015, she became a sworn deputy in the Patrol Division, advancing from patrol deputy to lieutenant.
During her time in patrol, Pierce served as a sobriety test instructor, drug recognition expert and Alabama Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement instructor. In 2023, the patrol team she led received the LCSO Bison Award, a unit commendation recognizing actions above and beyond the call of duty, for saving the life of a fellow deputy in the line of duty…
