Flooded roads reported, US-127 closed amid Mid-Michigan storms

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Several roads across the capital area are reported to have flooded in the wake of Friday evening’s thunderstorms rolling through the region, including a stretch of US-127 in Lansing.

As of 8:30 p.m., police have closed all lanes of southbound US-127 at Grand River Avenue, near Exit 78 due to water over the roadway. All northbound lanes are closed at the Saginaw Street exit as well.

Authorities are also warning drivers of significant road flooding throughout the region. You are encouraged to not drive at all, if possible, but if you must, do not attempt to drive through standing water or large puddles in the road.

The flooding is the result of a band of thunderstorms passing through the region, following a storm earlier Friday that saw large hail and tornadoes to the southwest of the capital area…
