Driver Opens Fire on Multiple Cars During Sacramento Morning Rush, Suspect Arrested

A quiet morning commute in Sacramento turned into a frightening ordeal for drivers after authorities say a man opened fire on several vehicles traveling on major highways across the city.

Investigators with the California Highway Patrol say the suspect, 33-year-old Raymond Calderone, has been arrested and is now facing a long list of serious charges following the early morning shooting spree.

The First Shots: A Victim Wounded on Highway 160

The incidents unfolded shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, when commuters were beginning their drive to work across the Sacramento area.

According to authorities, the first reported shooting occurred near Highway 160 and Northgate Boulevard in Sacramento. Investigators say a vehicle traveling along the highway was struck by gunfire from a suspect vehicle.

The victim managed to continue driving before eventually stopping near Vine Street and Dos Rios Street, where emergency responders arrived and began their investigation. Officials confirmed that one person was seriously injured and transported to a nearby hospital. At this time, investigators say no additional injuries have been reported.
