One of S.F.’s best Thai restaurants is getting into the brunch game

The owners of San Francisco’s Khao Tiew are following up on their smash hit Thai spot by doubling down on the West Portal neighborhood with an Asian brunch restaurant.

Named Tur, it is slated to open in April at 1 West Portal Ave., just down the street from Khao Tiew, co-owner and Khao Tiew chef Wipada Rattanapun said. (The opening was first reported by the San Francisco Business Times.) The final menu is currently in the works, but Rattanapun said it will focus on breakfast and brunch with influences from all over Asia, including Thailand. Dishes may include Thai-style congee, seasonal salads and a duck confit.

“Like at Khao Tiew, we are going to cook homestyle dishes like we make for friends and family,” Rattanapun said. The new restaurant’s chef will be Varunthorn Ratanakachain, who last worked at Asian brunch spot Darla Café in Saratoga…
