MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The national average of a gallon of regular gas is around $3.20, according to AAA, and is inching toward $3 in lower Alabama.

Drivers are wondering how the price of gas that’s already been drilled, refined, and delivered to the retailer can go up in price so much.
University of South Alabama Professor Ermanno Afuso explains the jump.
“The idea is that the local retailer of gasoline, they are pricing already on the replenishment rate of what they’re selling,” Professor Afuso said. “So, in the expectation there’s going to be a shortage of gas, even though there is no current shortage yet, that’s going to increase the price.”…
