Sparks man sentenced to jail for 2024 domestic battery

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) – A Sparks man has been sentenced to serve jail time for a 2024 domestic battery incident.

Marco Estrada-Chavez was sentenced to the maximum term of 180 days in the Washoe County Jail suspended for two year, on the conditions that he spend 2 active days in jail, complete 48 hours of community service, pay a $200 fine plus administrative assessments, pay a $35 domestic violence fee, complete 26 weeks of domestic violence classes, attend an 8-hour class on the effects of violence in the home, have no contact with the victim unless it complies with their family court order, abstain from drugs and alcohol, surrender any firearms, and obey all laws.

On Nov. 3, 2024, the victim and Chavez’s 11-year-old son ran to a nearby family member’s home, knocked on the door and pleaded for help. The family member then called police and said that her niece had been hit by her ex-husband…
