Man convicted after shooting Wasilla police officer 7 times at close range

PALMER, Alaska (KTUU) – A Palmer jury has convicted Patrick Marrs on attempted murder and a series of assault, weapons and other charges stemming from a December 2020 traffic stop in Wasilla that ended with a Wasilla police officer being shot seven times at close range, according to the Alaska Department of Law.

The verdicts were returned Wednesday. Marrs was found guilty of:

  • Attempted murder
  • First-degree assault
  • Second-degree assault
  • Two counts of third-degree assault
  • Third-degree misconduct involving weapons
  • Failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer
  • Fifth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance
  • Providing false information

The case dates to the evening of Dec. 17, 2020, when Wasilla police tried to stop Marrs’ vehicle just before 5 p.m. Authorities said the vehicle did not stop and drove off at high speed, with the pursuit ending near the Valley Country Store parking lot by Seldon Road.
