The Lehigh Valley has claimed the top spot among mid-sized markets in Site Selection Magazine’s annual economic development rankings, marking a significant achievement for the Pennsylvania region that has consistently placed in the top 10 for the past decade.
The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. announced the honor in a news release on Friday. It comes on the heels of Eli Lilly revealing in February that it would build a $3.5 billion pharmaceutical manufacturing facility outside of Allentown in what’s been called the largest life science project in Pennsylvania history.
The magazine’s Governor’s Cup Awards, considered the benchmark assessment by corporate real estate and economic development professionals, evaluated 350 metropolitan areas and 50 states across the country.
