Visit Brandywine Falls, 65 Foot Ohio Waterfalls in CVNP

* Updated 3/5/26 Updated with seasonal photos, updated links, and content updated to current trail conditions.

There is so much to see and explore right here in Ohio! We are fortunate enough to have the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) right in Summit County! We even have waterfalls in Ohio! Brandywine Falls is by far the most spectacular waterfall in the Akron, Ohio area but there are also other CVNP parks with waterfalls too.

Brandywine Falls is home to the 65-foot bridal veil falls that sends water cascading down the falls. Brandywine Falls is a must-see for anyone living in Ohio or visiting Ohio. It is located within CVNP, in Northern Summit County in Northfield, Ohio (Sagamore Hills Township). I like that these Ohio waterfalls are easily accessible. You can see the view from the top after a short walk from the parking lot along a paved trail – this is the only way to see the waterfalls with a stroller, scooter, or wheelchair.

There are signs, but be sure to keep an eye on younger kids as this is a dangerous location, even with the trails, fences, etc.

For a great view from the side and bottom, follow the well-maintained trails on either side of the waterfalls.

From the parking lot, take Brandywine Gorge Loop and head for the stairs (not the boardwalk loop) to see the best view of Brandywine Falls. The trail starts down a few steps to a paved walkway, then 100 wooden steps down to the lower viewing platform. You can get an amazing view of Brandywine Falls from the bottom, looking straight at the waterfall – year-round. There are great photo opp spots to get your photo taken in front of the waterfalls.

Brandywine Falls is accessible and beautiful year-round.

In the Winter, the ice is spectacular!

Speaking of hiking, the 1.5 mile Brandywine Gorge Trail is so much fun for all ages – we see families, couples, and groups exploring together all the time. It’s never too crowded for a great view. The trail follows the waterfall and edge of the gorge. There are plenty of hills, so be prepared with a water bottle, snacks, and hiking shoes! This trail goes from the top of the waterfall to creek level…
