AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Special Olympics Area 15 held its annual spring games Friday, drawing athletes ages 3 to 80.
Events included a 100-meter run, wheelchair races and a softball throw. Athletes from Aiken, Edgefield and Saluda counties participated.
Director highlights athletes’ enthusiasm
Area 15 director Amy Ingram said the event is one that athletes anticipate each year.
“It’s just a wonderful thing — they cheer, they’re so excited like a week in advance because they know it’s coming,” Ingram said. “They don’t like missing it.”…
