Convicted Attempted Murder Arrested for Disorderly Conduct

Convicted attempted murderer Terrick Grimes, 36, was arrested early Sunday morning by Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

In 2008, an 18-year-old Grimes was facing life in prison for charges of attempted premeditated murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, grand theft, resisting an officer without violence, attempted robbery and burglary. Pleading no contest, Judge Peter Sieg sentenced him to 20 years in prison followed by ten years of probation.

Grimes agreed to testify truthfully in a co-defendant’s trial but he later was convicted of perjury for making contradictory statements during an official proceeding. Court records show his co-defendants settled with no contest plea deals, indicating the conviction may have stemmed from Grimes’ statements during a pretrial proceeding.

Grimes committed the attempted murder at 16 years old with two other individuals, 15-year-old Aldrick Robinson and 17-year-old Thaddeaus Hall. The trio was arrested in 2005 after pizza delivery driver Steven Allen was found severely beaten and left for dead…
