Memphis Couple Accused Of Turning Meet-Up Into Drive-By Trap

What started as a Valentine’s Day meet-up outside a Memphis gas station ended with bullets hitting a man’s car and a couple in handcuffs, according to police. The victim was not reported to have been injured, and investigators say the suspected gunman was arrested on March 3, with a court appearance set for March 5.

From Valentine’s meetup to gunfire

Police records say the victim agreed to meet his ex-girlfriend, Laquata Holmes, outside the Shell station at 2400 Airways Boulevard. He told officers he then followed Holmes when she said she was going to buy marijuana.

According to the report, Holmes later came back in a red Kia Soul and drove to the area of Castalia Street and Lamar Avenue. There, she stopped the car, a passenger got out, and opened fire, striking the victim’s vehicle. Those details were reported by Action News 5.

Lineup ID, arrests and charges

On February 16, officers showed the victim a six-photo lineup. Police say he identified Krishun Lakeith Jones as the shooter, and investigators later took Jones into custody on March 3.

According to police, Jones waived his Miranda rights and acknowledged that he is a convicted felon. He is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Holmes is charged with facilitation of aggravated assault, and both were scheduled for a Shelby County court appearance on March 5, according to Yahoo News.
