Influx of dogs creates urgent need for adoptions, fosters at Mobile city animal shelter

MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Due to a seasonal influx of puppies at the City of Mobile Animal Shelter, our Animal Services Department is in immediate need of adopters and local foster families.

To help facilitate adoptions, all adoption fees are currently being waived for approved applicants. Walk-ins are welcome during regular shelter hours, which are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those interested in adopting can fill out an application, and a member of the shelter staff will contact them to schedule an after-hours or weekend meet-and-greet appointment.

As temperatures warm and spring approaches, the shelter expects even more puppies to arrive. This makes it an ideal time to adopt for Mobile residents who have been considering adding a new pet to their family. For those who want to help temporarily, fostering an animal can free up critical space at the shelter and help pets adjust to life in a home, increasing their chances of a successful adoption…
