An 11-year-old boy was found with a serious head injury on a West Side street Friday evening and rushed to a nearby trauma center, according to police. Officers responding to a well-being check discovered the child around 7:30 p.m. on the 200 block of South Kostner in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. He was listed in serious condition and placed in protective police custody as detectives launched an investigation.
