HOUSTON (CW39) – Traffic delays are expected along I-69 in Fort Bend County and parts of the Katy Freeway near downtown Houston this weekend due to construction and a major traffic switch at the Brazos River Bridge.
Most Impactful Construction This Weekend (Houston):
- I-69 Southwest Freeway (Fort Bend County): A major traffic switch at the Brazos River Bridge will impact traffic from University Blvd. to Riverbrook Dr. starting 9 PM Friday through 5 AM Monday. Several northbound lanes will shift and the northbound frontage road will be closed, which could cause delays through the Sugar Land area.
- East Sam Houston Tollway: Multiple northbound ramps near Pasadena Blvd. and Red Bluff Rd. will be closed all weekend from Friday evening through early Monday morning.
- I-10 Katy Freeway (near Heights/Houston Ave area): Ongoing construction tied to the White Oak Bayou elevation project continues to reduce lanes and periodically close ramps near Studemont and Heights Blvd., which could slow traffic west of downtown.
Bottom line: Expect the biggest slowdowns along I-69 in Fort Bend County and parts of the Katy Freeway near downtown, especially overnight and during the day Saturday and Sunday…
