SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A domestic violence incident led to a dramatic vehicle pursuit Thursday that ended in the suspect’s arrest on Gateway Street, according to the Springfield Police Department.
Authorities were initially called to a residence on Lochaven Avenue on March 5 to address a disorderly conduct report involving 60-year-old Kevin Wayne Downs. Officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Downs for Assault IV APA, but he had already fled the scene. Later, an officer spotted Downs driving on Gateway Street and attempted a traffic stop, resulting in a pursuit. Downs drove through parking lots and attempted to drive over a berm on International Way, ultimately getting stuck against a retaining wall, police officials said. Springfield police said Downs then tried to escape on foot but was apprehended by K9 Poker. Downs was taken into custody without further incident…
