Governor visits site of P’burg sinkhole disaster, promises aid to those who say they’ve been ignored

Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s visit to a small town in North Jersey wrecked by sinkholes left some residents in tears.

Several affected by the sinkholes in their front yards and the paved roadway in Phillipsburg are still displaced.

“I spent my life getting my mortgage paid off,” said one displaced resident, who was in tears as she addressed the governor from the sidewalk Friday morning outside her home. “Everybody keeps wiping their hands. They want nothing to do with us.”…
