Double impact: Augusta driver fleeing police on foot hit by two cars

An Augusta driver fleeing police Thursday was hospitalized after authorities say he ran into interstate traffic and was hit by two cars.

Christopher Maltsby, 17, was listed in critical condition at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center, according to Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Lt. James Kelly.

Deputies looking for a stolen car at about 8:19 a.m. said they spotted an orange Dodge Challenger matching the car’s description. As they turned around at the intersection of Barton Chapel and Old McDuffie roads, the driver fled east on Old McDuffie, a dead-end street…
