Jury deadlocks on murder charge in retrial of man who stabbed grandmother

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Kern County jury on Friday deadlocked on a charge of second-degree murder in the retrial of a man who stabbed his 70-year-old grandmother.

Jurors split 8-4 in the trial of Juan Andres Valdez, with the majority voting not guilty, according to a release from the Kern County Public Defender’s Office.
