Late-Night Gunfire Turns Madisonville’s Madison Road Into Crime Scene

Cincinnati police spent hours on Madison Road late Friday after a reported shooting turned a Madisonville intersection into an overnight crime scene.

Shots were reported around 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Madison Road and Mathis Street, according to officials. Officers quickly descended on the area and shut down traffic while they tried to piece together what happened.

Police response and road closure

Officers sealed off the stretch of Madison Road near Mathis Street and kept the roadway closed for hours as detectives searched for evidence and documented the scene. Portions of the road remained blocked while investigators worked, WKRC reported.

What officials have said

“Police were investigating a shooting that occurred Friday,” WKRC reported. The station did not say whether anyone was hurt or whether any arrests had been made. Cincinnati police had not released additional details as of Saturday morning.

Madisonville’s recent violence

Madisonville has seen several shootings in recent years, and public-safety concerns have repeatedly drawn police attention. In June 2024, five people were wounded during a community-day event at Bramble Park, according to the Associated Press. WLWT reported in April 2025 that a 66-year-old man was killed in a separate Madisonville incident, which also prompted a homicide investigation.

Anyone with information about Friday night’s shooting is asked to contact Cincinnati police or Greater Cincinnati Crime Stoppers. The city lists Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040 and the non-emergency line at (513) 765-1212. See the official contact details on the City of Cincinnati Police site…
