The Kenton County Planning Commission recommended a change to the zoning laws in Bromley Thursday night, which would allow for single-family detached homes in the city’s neighborhood commercial zone, a change that would affect 28 properties in the city, according to an analysis from the county.
Bromley Mayor Mike Denham told the Planning Commission the Bromley City Council had heard from residents who already have single-family homes in the neighborhood commercial zone were running up against zoning regulations.
“I’m all in favor for this,” said Denham. “We had citizens come to our council meeting complaining they can’t do nothing with their property.”
Under the city’s current ordinance, single-family detached homes are not allowed in the city’s commercial and industrial zones. Like many cities in Kenton County, Bromley willingly adopted the county’s Z21 zoning template, which aimed to make zoning regulations throughout the county more uniform.
