Driver will face charges after collision with Midlands school bus

A driver is facing charges after his vehicle collided with a Lexington-Richland 5 school bus early Friday.

No students were on the bus at 5:41 a.m. as it was traveling north on Sid Bickley Road southeast of Chapin. A 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck turned right off of Cannon Road and collided with the bus, which then left the roadway and struck a nearby building, a fence and a shed, S.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper William Bennett said.

Both the driver of the school bus and the driver of the pickup truck were transported from the scene by ambulance, although details on their injuries were not available. A second adult who was riding on the bus was reportedly uninjured…
