Man who hit, killed tow truck driver on I-575 in Woodstock learns sentence

WOODSTOCK, Ga. — A man will spend time behind bars after he pleaded guilty to a homicide by vehicle incident that happened nearly three years ago.

60-year-old David Albert Beaver Jr., pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle in the first degree and reckless driving in connection with the October 19, 2023, collision that left tow truck driver Frank Ingram dead. Ingram was also the owner of his own towing company.

His sentence was one year in prison, suspended on certain conditions, followed by 14 years of probation. One condition is that he must serve at least 180 days of the yearlong sentence, though not all at once — he’ll be allowed to serve in increments of four days at a minimum of 48 days annually (averaging out to once a month), as well as on the anniversary of the crash (October 19) every year…
