NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A six-year-old boy is lucky to be alive after he was struck by a car Wednesday evening in front of his Jefferson Avenue home. The driver did not stop.

Dralen Satchell has autism and is non-verbal. His mother said he has a tendency to run off. Surveillance video from the Palace Inn next door shows the moment of impact, as the light-colored sedan struck Dralen, sending his iPad flying.
“When the car hit him, it hit him from the side and it flipped him, and he landed face down,” his mother, Rozonda Savage, said Friday afternoon. The boy was taken to the hospital, where they stitched up his face and chin, she said.
By Friday, Dralen was out walking with his mother, clutching his Mickey Mouse, as she clutched his arm — “I always hold him like this,” she said. “He likes to run away.”…
