Car show for Amarillo Make-A-Wish celebrates 1,000th wish this weekend

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — What began as a shared passion for cars among board members has grown into a powerful community effort to help children facing critical or life-threatening illnesses.

The annual car show, organized in support of the Amarillo Make-A-Wish chapter, combines automotive enthusiasm with charitable giving. Show Chairman Barry Henson said one wish in particular stands out.

“We actually built a car for one of the kids who was in high school,” Henson said. “We surprised him with it right here at the car show. He had no idea it was his. It was a lot of fun to see his reaction.”…
