(Des Moines) — The fourth installment of the St. Albert/Newell-Fonda showdown brought another classic.
This time, it was Newell-Fonda (24-2) coming back from an early 12-point deficit to take a 50-45 Class 1A state semifinal over St. Albert (22-4), which took a double overtime win in last year’s state championship over the Mustangs.
“We started off so strong,” St. Albert head coach Dick Wettengel said. “They went on a big run of their own, and then we answered back. They had the final run, and that’s the one that counted.”…
