Daylight Saving Time brings longer evenings to Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The time to ‘spring’ your clocks forward an hour is near, as the time change is set for March 8 at 2:00 a.m.

Currently, the sunrise in Anchorage is around 7:40 AM with the sunsetting at 6:40 PM. By Sunday, the sunrise will be 8:37 AM with the sunset around 7:44 PM.

Vernal Equinox, or Spring Equinox, commences on March 20th, marking the start to the astronomical spring season. By March 20th, most of the state will reach nearly 12 hours and 30 minutes of daylength, with more and more daylight in each passing day…
