Dogs have their day: Augusta animal hospital helps canine officers

An Augusta veterinary office has donated first aid kits for dogs to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit.

The 10 kits from Westside Animal Hospital “helps ensure that deputies and handlers have immediate access to critical medical supplies in the event a K-9 partner is injured while assisting in law enforcement operations,” the RCSO said Friday in a statement.

“Strong partnerships with our local businesses make a real difference in our ability to serve and protect the community,” Richmond County Sheriff Gino Brantley said in thanking Westside. “These dogs are not just tools of the job. They are valued partners who work beside our deputies every day to keep our community safe.”…
